Decreasing criminals in society is of central importance. This vitalness requires rigirous approaches to prevent and aslo deter crimes. Some believe that long term jail for criminals reduce the crime, while others suggest that there are more appropriate ways. I personally agree with the latter idea,
Firstly, The main problem is not the person who commits crimes, Regarding, the social theory suggesting that in each crime the society is just as in blame as the criminal, if not more, a long imprisoning would not work out socially. The fact is that in a crime perpetuation, other aspects involving in the context keep being unchanged and even uncovered, For example in a murdur done by a man because of some bias in a trbl or family quarrell, is the longer sentence in prison for the guy solve the whole issue and decrease the crimes between them totally ?
Furthermore, the policy of long prisioning costs more than benefits. This approach could not be a deteriaration. In fact, a culture with a possibility of long jail for everyboday shows a possbility of crime first before guarenteeing security for their people. Besides, the cost of prisons put an enormous strains on gevernments too, providing their necessities including more military cost, more, accomodation and so on.
To conclude, long jais is not a good option to prevent crime in soceity. First of all, to deal with crimes appropriately, its better to look at the issue in deepr level not by extending the lenght of sentences. Also, the cost of this policy is so much , signifying there is possibility of criminal and huge tangible expense for administrations.
