Individuals can do nothing to improve the environment; only governments and large companies can make a difference. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
You should write at least 250 words.
Walking through the street, we can easily find the recycling bins with different colours indicating different catagories. To be friendly of the envirnoment is a concensus of human beings in recent years. Some people may think that a single person cannot contribute enough to bring change but only the goverments and coporations can. However, I totally disagree with this idea. In this essay, not only individual influence, but the bravery of taking risk will be discussed.
Several people may question about how an individual can improve the environment by his little power. Neverthless, a girl called Greta Thunberg used herself to epitomize how a person can make change for the global environment. In 2019, this youngest environmental activist successfully invoked people from all over the world to understand the severity of global warming. The reason behind the success is due to the resonance among people. In the reality, the people always know what the challenges our mother planet are facing, but no one speak it out and consolidate everyone to address it. Therefore, individuals have a great potential to bring improvement to the world because there must be so many people sharing the same ideas with us in the earth. Having looked at the individual influence, we may talk about the bravery of taking risk.
The governments and large companies may always have greater power or effectiveness to make change, but they may lack the bravery of taking risk because they have to consider so many factors before they make a decision. For example, many countries are hesitating of the commitment to zero emission carbon dioxide because they are worried about its influence of national economy. However, they are many pledges of living green held by small non-governmental organizations can attract an array of people or insitutions to join. Consequently, the essential element of improving the environment is "how dare you" and it is not determined by the size or power of the organization.
To conclude, individuals can always contribute a lot to the environment and even tirgger a social movement because of our personal influence and our bravery of taking risk. If the government can be couragous enough to protect our planet, with the effort of every individual, I believe we can pave the way for our next generations to live in the world which is sustainable, harmonious and comfortable for not only human beings but also the all lives.
