IELTS Speaking sample Part 2

Cue Card:

What you loved to do as a child?

      Describe your experience.

      Why did you love it?

These answers are of band 7.5

Model Answer:

I believe that our truest passions emerge in childhood. When I was a child, I was always fascinated by music. Especially when I used to play guitar, I felt like I am surrounded by the notes of music. Music is life. Without music the world would be silent and dreary. Music enfolds you in a blanket of comfort, giving you inspiration in moments of stress and loneliness.

To begin with, I started playing guitar when I was twelve years old. Music always attracted me towards it and moreover, I was highly inspired by my feelings and experiences. Through music, I discovered diverse abilities and hidden talents in me. At the age of fifteen, I started writing songs through my knowledge and creativity.  During this time, I realized that music is equally significant for me as it was breathing. Music empowered my values of determination, perseverance and understanding. I love music because I see life in terms of music.

Question 1. What did you learn from your experience?

Answer. I belive that music teaches you the essence of life. With my experience, I learned that music connects your soul to other people’s soul. To put it differently, I would say that every country has their own National Anthem and when all the citizens sing that anthem, they feel connected through their heart and soul. Honestly, that defines the power of music.

Question 2. Who was your role model when you were a child?

Answer. My mother was always my role model. She always inspired me with her devotion, feelings, love and affection towards my family. Apart from this, she was a great singer and was my best critics.

Question 3. Do you think childhood passions can be pursued as career in life?

Answer. Yes, I totally agree with the statement. As a matter of fact, I would definitely say that if your determination is true and you make your passion as your career, nobody can stop you to achieve success in life. Many musicians in this world has proved it and my favourite is A.R. Rehman.
