The table below gives information about the problems faced by children in two primary schools in 2005 and 2015.

Worker often have to retire at the age of 60 or 65. However, some people say that they should be allowed to continue working for as long as they want.
What is your opinion about this?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
The table compares two primary schools in terms of the proportions of their pupils who experienced seven different educational problems in the years 2005 and 2015.
It is noticeable that school A had higher proportions of children with all seven educational difficulties in both years. However, while school A managed to reduce the incidence of most of the problems between 2005 and 2015, school B saw an overall rise in the percentage of children who were struggling.
In 2005, 42% of school A’s pupils found it difficult to follow instructions, whereas only 6% of pupils in school B experienced this problem. Similarly, between 30 and 40 per cent of children attending school A had problems in the areas of spelling, listening, verbal expression and concentration in lessons, while the equivalent figures for school B stood at between 5 and 15 per cent.
In 2015, the difference between the two schools was less pronounced. Notably, the proportion of children who struggled to follow instructions fell by 24% in school A, and this school also saw falls of 22%, 15%, 14% and 5% in the figures for children who had problems with concentration, listening, verbal expression and spelling. In school B, however, the proportion of children who struggled with spelling and following instructions doubled, to 10% and 12% respectively, and there was almost no change in the incidence of listening, verbal or concentration problems.
It is a common practice, in most of the societies worldwide, for the people to stop working when they reach the sixth decade of their life. This is because, it has been observed, that with the advancement in years, an individual’s ability to perform goes downhill and so has to be replaced by the youthful ideas. I personally feel, that an employee should hang up his boots at this age.
One important reason, why I believe, that a person should call it a day at this age, is to give chance to the younger task force. The younger people have the modern ideas and know about the latest technology but they can put their ideas into practice only when they get opportunity to work. This is possible only when the older people retire and younger ones take their place. In addition, if the seniors continue to work, unemployment results. For instance, a research carried out by the Employment department revealed, that many vacancies could be created if it is made mandatory for the people to retire at the age of 60 or 65.
Not only that, there are other arguments also which support retirement at a certain age. The people, who have passed their prime, face many health related issues. This affects the productivity of the work. For example the graying workers take more sick leaves as compared to their younger counterparts. Hence this also bring home the idea of compulsory retirement at a certain age.
In conclusion, I would like to reiterate that a person should cease to work at a particular age as it is good for him as well as for the society. The society gets infused with new ideas and the individual also gets the much needed rest after having worked for the better part of his life.
Employees are frequently believed to retire when they enter their sixties. However, some people assert that they should have the right to determine the length of their working years. In my perspectives, this viewpoint may allow some benefits for the society and the workers themselves.
The primary reason is that prolonging the working time may deliberate society’s economic burden. Firstly, should a person be productive, he may go on earning money and making profits for the economy. Moreover, owing to the advance in health care and medical development, human longevity is lengthened, therefore expanding the retirement class. Hence, the government would be put under pressure of allowance and medical care for the elderly who are unable to make a living on their own. Therefore, postponing the retirement age renders more workforce and fewer people for the government to take care of. Besides, feeling of being useful and autonomous, old people should be more positive and lead a healthier life if they are allowed to keep their jobs.
Another contributor for this opinion is that senior citizens are experienced workers and offer a great deal of assistance for their younger colleagues. Even though junior employees possess valuable assets such as youth, flexibility, competitiveness and excellent manipulation of cutting-edge technology, they cannot gain the knowledge and experience which can only be obtained from years of working. Older workers might play the role of counselors or managers to assist and share their insights to the younger fellows. The elderly may be more scrupulous and resilient than the dynamic youth.
To conclude, being old does have its own advantages, thus, old workers are an incredible source of knowledge and experience which no books can provide. It is
advisable to utilize the strengths of junior employees while they are still be able to contribute to the society.
